White people are going to learn today! Jasmine Barkley of William Paterson University decided to get on Instagram Live to ask the question, “is it appropriate or not appropriate to say ‘nigga’ in song?” She’s referring to Lil Dicky and Chris Brown’s song “Freaky Friday” where lily-white, jokey rapper Lil Dicky uses Chris Brown as a mouthpiece to say the “N-word” without repercussions.
The song itself is problematic and corny but the real question is, why are white people so obsessed with the word, nigga?
Kaitlin Listro of Penn State who is also in the Instagram video stated, if you’re offended by her using the N-word then “suck my d**k.” Kaitlin Listro of Penn State, I’m not interest sucking your lily-white small penis. But if you are so bold to say the word, nigga, then be prepared for the aftermath.
I’m going to write your names, Kaitlin Listro and Jasmine Barkley in an article about racism because I want your names to come up in a Google search about racism. I want your namesakes to always be attached to being a racist. I want you to cry white tears at night at your stupid decisions to broadcast your white privilege.
Kaitlin Listro and Jasmine Barkley, thought they were so cute and funny and hip that they could post an insensitive video on a topic that they cannot fathom. I don’t care how many times your favorite rapper says the N-word. I don’t care if Drake says it. I don’t care if you love Future and you think you’re signed to Freebandz.
The N-word is just one word in the English that white people cannot say. Saying the N-word doesn’t make you hip or cool. And you’re not more relatable to your Black friends if you say it. White people saying the N-word reveals that their white privilege is showing and that the individuals have no regards to the feelings of others who may be offended by the word.
We all have free speech but this is a lesson of being prepared to suffer the repercussions when being cute goes wrong.
